About Sam
Born and raised in Utah, Sam has been taking pictures since he was a small child when his mom gave him a toy camera that shot 110 film. Sam received his first SLR camera on his 13th birthday, a Minolta Maxxum 7000 which, he still occasionally shoots on today. Since that time he has since had a fascination for the art of capture. He is an avid skier and hiker, and has in recent years began wandering into the slot canyons of southern Utah with his wife, Katie, which, he married in the Fall of 2018. Sam also likes to curl, play bass, fish, and spend inordinate amounts of time gazing at maps of any kind. Sam is also a man of faith and an active member of Antioch Community Church in Salt Lake City.
ABout Katie
Originally a Midwest Girl, Katie has claimed Utah as home since 2013. She began to explore long exposure photography after an inspiring trip to Minnesota’s North Shore in 2018 and asked Sam to teach her the ins and outs of the process. Currently, Katie is on a quest to photograph each of Utah’s Waterfalls. Outside of photography, Katie enjoys playing with their two kiddos, reading, canyoneering, and hiking.
